As-Salam Alaykum dear ones,
The Day of Arafah is the greatest Day of the Year just as the Laylat-ul-Qadr is the greatest Night. This Deen was revealed on the Laylat al-Qadr and completed on the Yawm Arafah.
Besides lots of Dhikr and Du'a, Tijanis can do these things on that sacred day and after:
1- Fast on the Day!
Our Master of Masters, the blessed Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used to fast on that Day.
He also said that Allah will forgive the sins of the "past year" and the "coming year" of the person who fasts on that Day.
Sidna Shaykh Ibrahim Niasse (RA) used say that this means that person who fasts on that day will hopefully live another year!
2- Recite the Ayat al-Hirs (Verse No 128 till end of Surah Tawbah), 360 Times before Sunset with the intention of Protection, Mercy and Guidance for the whole year.
Here are the Verses (last two verses of Surah 9):
لَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُم بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ ۖ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
These blessed Verses are known as Ayat al-Hirs, and contain great Divine and Muhammadan Secrets. This was narrated from our Master Sayyidina Shaykh Ahmad al-Tijani (RA) himself.
3- To recite the special Salawat called Yaqutat al-Haqa'iq (The Ruby of Realities) 161 times, as that is considered equivalent to standing on Arafah.

However, this is only for those Tijanis who have IJAZAH in this unique Salawat, that was granted by the Prophet (SAW) to Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (RA) in a state of wakefullness.
4- Prepare for the slaughtering of the Sacrifical Sheep on the Great Day of Eid-ul-Adha. It is indeed a Symbol of ISLAM and a great Sunnah of the Prophets, from Abraham (A.S.) till Muhammad (SAW).
There are GREAT blessings in Slaughtering on that day. Every Muslim must try to slaughter one sheep for every member of their family.
If you cant afford for everyone, then 1 for yourself and 1 for the wife. If that is also not possible, then you MUST slaughter 1 sheep for the whole family.
The Prophet (SAW) said that our Intentions for slaughtering reach Allah even before the blood falls on the ground. He (SAW) also stated that our sins are forgiven in accordance with every hair of that slaughtered sheep.
This is a great sacrifice! One never be miserly with this great Ibadah. Many people say "We cant afford a sheep" but spend even more money on Dunya things. They must realize the Blessing they are missing.
It is preferred to slaughter yourself in your own hometown, reciting the Takbir with your family. However, it is allowed to send the money elsewhere to get the sheep slaughtered there. Tijanis may send to Shaykh Tijani Cisse and Shaykh Mahy Cisse in Medina-Baye, as they also collect the monies and slaughter the sheep there, which is then distributed to the poor in Senegal.
The Prophet (SAW) reccomended that all those who will slaughter, should not cut their nails or hair , from the 1st of the month till the Day of Eid, in imitatation of the Holy Pilgrims. However, it is not a condition.
It is also reccomended that on the Day of the Eid, we eat nothing before the Prayer, and thereafter eat from the Slaughtered Animal, as there is great barakah in that Sacrifical meat.
All these Sunnahs are upkept by our Shaykhs in Medina-Baye.
5- Recite the Takbir loudly after every Obligatary Prayer from the Fajr of the Day of Arafah (9th Zil-Hajj) till the Asr of the 13th day. It is a great Sunnah, in which we celebrate Allah's Bounties on the Pilgrims and on this blessed Ummah of Muhammad (SAW) and nation of Islam.
The Day of Arafah is the 9th of Dhi-'l-Hajj, when the Hujjaj stand on the sacred plains of ARAFAH!
Our Guide Shaykh al-Haj Ibrahim Niasse (RA) also gave some advice to his students on what to do in the holy nights of Ramadan. I mention them here again, as the occasion is similar and the virtues of these actions remain evergreen. He says:
و عليكم بالأوراد التجانية فنعمت أوراد التربية هي
I advise you to promptly recite the Wirds of the Tijani Path, for they are best Zikrs of Tarbiyah
و عليكم بالمحادثة في شأن الختم التجاني مع أحبابكم فهي أفضل من جميع الأوراد
And I advise you to talk about and discuss the Status of our Shaykh al-Khatm al-Tijani (RA) with your fellow disciples, for that is better than all Awrad
و عليكم بذكر فيضته التي بها حقق الله الحقائق الربانية في قلوبكم و أذاقكم المعارف الإلهية فتقدرون قدر هذه النعمة و تشكروا الله و لا تكفروه
And I advise you to mention and recall his Faydah through which Allah established His Realities in your hearts and made you taste his Divine Sciences. So that you may comprehend the value of this blessing, and thank Allah and not be ungrateful

(Yaaquutat Al Haqaa'iqi bi ta'areef bi-haqeeqat Sayyidi l khalaa'iqi - The Ruby of Realities through which the Reality of the Leader of Creations is known)
Allah Allah Allah. Allahummah anta-llahu ladhii laa'ilaha ilaa anta, Al-aliyyu fii 'azamati infiraadi hadrati ahadiyyatika latee shi'ita fiihaa bi-wujuudi shu'uunika wa ansha'ata min nuurika l Kaamili nash'ata l haqqi wa anat'tahaa wa jahaltahaa suuratan kaamilatan taamatan tajidu min'haa bi-sababbi wujuudihaa mina-nfiraadi hadrati ahadiyyatika qabla nashri ashbaahihaa wa jahalta min'haa fiihaa bi-sababihaa inbisaata l ilmi wa jahalta min athri aadhihi l azamati wa min barakatihaa shab'hata suwari kulihaa jaamidihaa wa mutaharrikihaa wa anat'tahaa bi-iqbaal tah'riiki wa taskeeni wa jahaltahaa fii ihaatati l 'izzati min kaw'nihaa qabilat min'haa wa fiihaa walahaa wa tasha'asha'hati suwaru l baarizatu bi-iqbaali l wujuudi wa qadarta lahaa wa fiihaa wa min'haa maa yumaathiluhaa mimaa yutaabiqu arqaama suwarihaa wa hakamta 'alayhaa bi l buruuzi li-ta'adiyati maa qadrtahu 'alayhaa wa jahaltahaa manquushatan fii law'hi-haa mah'ffuzi ladhii khalaqta min'hu bi-barakaatihi wa hakamta 'alayhaa bi-maa aradta lahaa wa bi-maa tureedu bihaa wa jahalta kulla l kulla fii kullika wa ja'halta aadhaa l kulla min kullika wa ja'halta l kulla faydatan min nuuri azamatika ruuhaan limaa anta ah'lun lahu wa li-maa huwa ah'lim laka.
As'haluka Allahummah bi-martabati aadhihi l azamati wa itlaaqihaa fii wujudi wa 'adamin an tusallii wa tusalima 'alaa tarjumaani lisaani l qidami l law'hi l mah'fuuz wa nuuri s saarii l mamduudi ladhii laa yudrikuhu daarikun wa-laa yal'haquhu laa-hiqun. As-siraati l mustaqeemi. Naasiri l haqqi bil haqqi.
Allahummah salli wa sallim 'alaa ashrafi l khalaa'iqi l insaaniyyati wa l jaaniyyati. Saahibi l Anwaari l faakhirati. Allahummah salli wa sallim 'alayhi wa 'alaa aalihi wa 'alaa awlaadihi wa az'waajihi wa dhuriyatihi wa ah'li baytihi wa ikhwaanihi mina nabiyyiina wa siddiqeena wa 'alaa man aamana bihi wa taba'hahu mina l awaliin wa l aakhiriina.
Allahummah ij'hal salaatanaa 'alayhi maqbuulatan laa mar'duudatan. Allahummah salli wa sallim a'laa sayyidinaa wa mawlaanaa Muhammadin wa aalihi. Allahummah waj'hal-hu lanaa ruuhaan wa li-ibaadatinaa sirraan waj'hali Allahummah waj'hal mahabbatahu lanaa quutaan asta'eenu bihaa 'alaa ta'aziimihi.
Allahummah waj'hal ta'aziimahu fii quluubinaa hayaatan aquumu bihaa wa-sta'eenu bihaa 'alaa dhikrihi wa dhikri Rabbihi. Allahummah waj'hal salaatanaa 'alayhi miftaahaan waf'taha lanaa bihaa. Yaa Rabbi hijaaba l iqbaal wa taqabbal minnii bi-barakati habeebii habeebi 'ibaadika l mu'miniina maa anaa uwadiyyihi mina l awraadi wa l adhkaari wa l mahabbati wa ta'azeemi li-dhaatika "Li-llahi Li-llahi Li-llahi" "Aahu Aahu Aahu" "Ameen" "Huwa Huwa Huwa" "Ameen".
Wa salaa-llahu 'alaa sayyidinaa Muhammadin....Aameen

وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم حق قدره ومقداره العظيم
نيابة عن سر الذات والأسماء والصفات أذنت لكل من أراد الخير له ولأمة سيدنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وكل تجاني إبراهيمي بتلاوة هذه الكيفية في يوم عرفة نيابة عن الختم التجاني رضي الله عنه وعنا به آمين
الكيفية:
أن تقرأ {لَقَدْ جَاءكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُم بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَؤُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللّهُ لا إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ}. (360) مرة
ثم تذكر يالطيف اُلطف بنا والمسلمين (360) مرة.
ثم تقول السلام عليك أيها النبي ورحمة الله تعالى وبركاته (360) مرة
ثم تذكر صلاة الفاتح (14) مرة.
ثم تدعو بهذا الدعاء مرة أو ثلاث مرات وهو :-
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد الفاتح الخاتم الهادي وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم حق قدره ومقداره العظيم
اللهم إني أسألك بأسمائك الحسنى كلها ما علمت منها وما لم أعلم وأسألك بإسمك العظيم الأعظم الذي ترضى بأن ندعوك به ونقسم به عليك يا الله يا الله يا الله يا رب يا رب يا رب يا رحمن يا رحمن يا رحمن يا رحيم يا رحيم يا رحيم يا حي يا قيوم لا إله إلا أنت الفرد الصمد الذي لم يلد ولم يولد ولم يكن له كفواً أحد أن تصلي وتسلم على سيدنا محمد الفاتح الخاتم الهادي وعلى آله حق قدره ومقداره العظيم وأن تبسط علينا وعلى أمة سيدنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم رداء عفوك وعافيتك ظاهرا وباطنا في الدين والدنيا والآخرة وترفع عنا وعن أمة سيدنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم الشدة والضيق والوباء والطاعون والحمى وسائر الأوجاع والأسقام والهموم والغموم وتكفينا وإياهم ما أهمنا من أمورنا وزدنا ولا تنقصنا وأعطنا ولا تحرمنا ودافع عنا ولا تدفعنا فقد دفعتنا إليك العوالم فأنت ربنا وحسبنا فنعم المولى ونعم النصير اللهم يا حي يا قيوم لا إله إلا أنت سبحانك إني كنت من الظالمين أسألك أن تسكن عنا صدمة تجلي جبروت جبرك يا متكبر بنور من قلت فيه صلى الله عليه وسلم ورحمتي وسعت كل شيء وبما قاله عن نفسه صلى الله عليه وسلم إنما أنا رحمة مهداه ربنا لا تؤاخذنا إن نسينا أو أخطأنا ولا تهلكنا بما فعل السفهاء منا إن هي إلا فتنتك تضل بها من تشاء وتهدي من تشاء أنت ولينا فأغفر لنا وأرحمنا وأنت خير الغافرين وأكتب لنا في هذه الدنيا حسنة وفي الآخرة حسنة إنا هدنا إليك أجب دعائنا يا الله يا الله يا الله يا حي يا قيوم لا إله إلا أنت بسر ذاتك وأسمائك وصفاتك وببركة

Bughyat al-Mustafid is one of the most important works on the history and rulings of the Tijani Tariqah. Written by Sidi al-Arabi ibn Sa'ih, nicknamed the "Bukhari of the Path", it summarizes the biographical accounts from Jawahir al-Ma'ānī and codifies the rulings of the path that had been scattered in different locations. The author's critical placement in the history of the path, having met many of the Companions of the Shaykh himself, as well as many of the imminent muqaddams, made him an indispensable source of clarity on many of the issues a Tijani disciple will face while walking the path.
The book also serves as a bridge to longer or more complicated works. It has been said, "If you want to read Jawahir al-Ma'ani, read Bughyat al-Mustafid first." This is because he clarifies some of the issues in Jawahir al-Ma'ani that may lead to a disciple having doubts or some misunderstandings.
