{Prayer Acrostic Composed Chronologically with 'Basmallah' (Bismillahi Rahmani Raheem)}
بِسْمِ الإِلَهِ أَشْكُرُ الْمُرِيدَا ** وَأَرْتَجِي بِفَضْلِهِ الْمَزِيدَا
Bismi-l Ilāhi ashkuru-l Murīdā ** wa artajī bi-faḍlihi-l mazīdā
In the Name of Allah, I thank the One Who Wills (Allah) ** I seek increment of His bounty
سَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ يُتْحِفَ الْمُرِيدَا ** مِنْ جُودِهِ مَا أَعْجَزَ الْعَدِيدَا
Sa’altuhu an yut'ḥifa-l murīdā ** min jūdihi mā a‘ajaza-l ‘adīdā
I asked Him to delight the murids ** Out of His numerous benevolence.
مِنَ الْعُلُومِ وَمِنَ الأَرْزَاقِ ** فَضْلاً وَمِنْ مَحَاسِنِ الأَخْلاقِ
Min-a-l ‘ulūmi wa mina-l arzāqi ** faḍlan wa min maḥāsini-l akhlāqi
Out of His knowledge[sciences] and of wealth ** As well as of good moral values.
أَسْأَلُهُ بِاللَّهِ وَالرَّحْمَنِ ** وَبِالْمُهَيْمِنِ وَبِالْمَنَّانِ
As’aluhu bi-Llāhi wa-r Raḥmāni ** wa bi-l Muhaymini wa bi-l Mannāni
I ask Him, by[name] Allah and by [name] Merciful ** By [name] Dominant, by[name] Beneficent.
لَا احْتَجَبْتُ نَحْوَ غَيْرِهِ فِي الْعُمْرِ ** فَلَا أَرُومُ مِنَّةً لِلْغَيْرِ
Lā-ḥtajabtu naḥwa gayrihi fī-l ‘umri ** falā arūmu minnatan lil-gayri
I do not complain to anyone but Him in life ** And I do not need strength from anyone.
إِنِّي عُبَيْدٌ لِلْغَنِيِّ الْوَالِي ** أَرْجُوهُ لِي وَكُلِّ مَنْ يُوَالِي
Innī ‘ubaydun lil-Ganiyyi-l Wālī ** arjūhu lī wa kulli man yuwālī
I am a slave to the Rich Leader (Allah) ** I want Him for me and for anyone He leads.
هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ غَيْرُهُ ذَلِيلُ ** وَهُوَ الْكَرِيمُ الْوَاهِبُ الْجَمِيلُ
Huwa-l-’Azīzu gayruhu dhalīlu ** wa huwa-l Karīmu-l Wāhibu-l Jamīlu
He is Superior: other than Him is inferior ** He is Generous, Bountiful and Gorgeous.
أَرُومُ لِلأَحْبَابِ كُلَّ يُسْرِ ** وَلِتَكْفِهِمْ يَا رَبِّ كُلَّ عُسْرِ
Arūmu lil-aḥbābi kulla yusri ** wal-takfihim Yā Rabbi kulla ‘usri
I seek for the lovers all easiness ** And (oh Lord!) relief on them all difficulties.
لا ضَرَّهُمْ فَقْرٌ وَلا يُسَلِّطُ ** عَلَيْهِمُ الأَعْدَاءَ يَا مَنْ يُقْسِطُ
Lā darrahum faqrun wa lā yusalliṭu ** ‘alayhimu-l a‘adā’a Yaa Man yuqsiṭu
Do not let poverty harm them nor to let ** The enemies to overpower them, O You who delivers justice.
رَفَعْتَهُمْ فَضْلاً بِذِكْرِكَ الْعَظِيمِ ** فَأَغْنِهِمْ طُرّاً بِفَضْلِكَ الْعَمِيمِ
Rafa‘atahum faḍlan bi-dhikrika-l ‘aẓīm ** fa-agnihim ṭurran bi-faḍlika-l amīm
Raise them (to a higher rank) by virtue of Your majestic remembrance ** So enrich (all of them) with Your favors.
حَمَيْتَهُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ كُلِّ غَيْرِ ** فَامْلأْ قُلُوبَهُمْ بِكُلِّ سِرِّ
Ḥamaytahum ‘an dhikri kulli gayri ** famla’a qulūbahum bi-kulli sirri
Protect them from remembering anyone but You ** And fill their heart with all secrets.
مَلِّكْهُمُ الدِّيَارَ وَالأَمْوَالَا ** وَنَجِّهِمْ وَأَعْطِهِمْ أَنْفَالَا
Mallik'humu-d diyāra wa-l amwālā ** wa najjihim wa a‘atihim anfālā
Let them own homes and earn money ** And grant them success and bless them with treasures.
أَقِمْ وُجُوهَهُمْ لِدِينِكَ الْقَوِيمِ ** وَمُدَّ فِيهِمْ بِفَضْلِكَ الْجَسِيمِ
Aqim wujūhahum li-deenika-l qaweemi ** wa mudda fī-him bi-fadlika-l jaseemi
Let them focus on Your rightful religion ** And extend to them Your enormous virtue.
نِلْهُمْ وَزِدْهُمْ بِقَدْرِ صِدْقِ ** كُلِّ مُرِيدٍ وَبِقَدْرِ شَوْقِ
Nil'hum wa zid'hum bi-qadri ṣidqi ** kulli mureedin wa bi-qadri shawqi
Secure them and add them according to (the) honesty ** of every murid and according to the level of (his) desire.
إِنِّي أُرِيدُ مِنْكَ بَلْ وَتَعْلَمُ ** إِنِّي أُرِيدُ مِنْكَ بَلْ وَتَرْحَمُ
Innī urīdu minka bal wa ta‘alamu ** innī urīdu minka bal wa tar'hamu
I seek from You, but you know ** After that I want You to have mercy [upon them].
لَكَ وَمِنْكَ ثُمَّ فِيكَ كُلَّمَا ** طَلَبْتُهُ وَأَنْتَ تُعْطِي الْحِكَمَا
Laka wa minka thumma fīka kullamā ** talabtuhu wa anta tu‘utī-l hikamā
It is Yours and from You and in You all ** That I requested and it is You who gives wisdom.
رَجَوْتُ إِنَّنِي رَجَعْتُ مِنْكَا ** بِكُلِّ مَا سَأَلْتُهُ إِلَيْكَا
Rajawtu innanī raja‘atu minkā ** bi-kulli mā sa'altuhu ilaykā
I wish that I had returned to You ** With all that I asked towards You.
حَسِّنْ خَوَاتِمَ الأُولَى وَالْوَنَا ** وَأَعْطِنَا مَا فَاتَ الأَوَّلِينَا
Ḥassin khawātima-l ūlā wa-l lūnā ** wa a‘atinā mā fāta-l awwalīnā
Make good the end of the beginning ** And grant us what has escaped our ancestors.
يَا مَنْ يُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الْمُضْطَرِّ ** فَالْتَكْشِفَنْ مَا مَسَّنَا مِنْ ضُرِّ
Yaa Man yujību da'awatu-l mudtarri ** fal-takshifan mā massanā min durri
O You the One who answers the prayer of the one afflicted with harm ** Relieve the harm that has afflicted us.
مُصَلِّياً عَلَى النَّبِيِّ الْمُصْطَفَى ** وَآلِهِ مُسَلِّماً مُشَرَّفَا
Musaliyān ‘alā-n nabbiyi-l Mustafā ** wa ālihi musallimān musharafā
I pray upon the chosen Prophet ** And His Muslim and honored household (family).
Ameen thumma Ameen!!!
